Plant photography and portraits are combined in this series and presented in a way that explores the idea of reality. All of the images are taken of real things, but they aren’t all objectively as real as they seem. Through the images, there is an element of false reality. The close up picture of the plants are real plants but they are not naturally here. They were taken at the Olbrich Botanical Gardens in Madison, Wisconsin, and these tropical plants would not naturally be here. The images are taken with fake flowers in the background. The reality of the people are present in comparison to the fake flowers in the background. The image in which the eyes are showing through the flowers, the flowers are actually dead. This explores the theme in a way that the realness of the flowers is skewed through the lighting as they are not obviously dead. The images where plants are overlaying the faces shows a direct contrast between reality, the person posing for the photo and the tropical plants on top. The way the images are presented are representative of the personalities of each individual.
